DAY 2

I have now been in Israel for two days and I can't believe that I am missing my cell phone and computer.  I have absolutely no service here....UGH!  The internet is very expenisive and if you are lucky you can sign ing on a free wifi for about 10 seconds and then its gone.  LOL  Today was a very exhausting day.  We are still trying to get use to the time change and so far its beein very interesting.  I have had a total of 3 hours sleep in the past 2 days.  There is a 7 hour time difference here.  We are in bed by 9pm our time and its only 2pm USA time.  Today I was up 3 hours before I needed to.  So I sat in my hotel room looking out my window that faces the Sea of Galiee.  It was a beautiful experience as my mom and I watched the sun rise above the sea.

I know that I am little behind on my post but more photos are coming soon.

Day 1 Cont.

UGH!!!  After spending almost 8 hours in a car, 6 hours in an airport and 14 hours in an airplane, all I an say is I am EXHAUSTED!  I am going to be but will try to post as much as I can.  The internet is a bit expensive here and it seems that we will be woken up everyday at 6am and back to the hotel by 6pm in the evening.  Pictures are coming soon but here are a few just for starters.

Day 1

Tonight as I pack for my Journey I came across this sermon that seems fitting for my first entry for my blog.  I can relate to Timothy and have been told many times by others that my spiritual gift is the gift of helping and giving.  Its always been in my nature and this excerpt of the sermon pretty much sums up who I am and what I am about.

How do you treat others?

Timothy is a prime example of someone that looked out for others. Philippians 2:20-21 NLT says, “I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ.” Timothy is lauded here as a man who genuinely cares about these people’s welfare. There was a genuine love for what Jesus loves in Timothy. He put others’ welfare as a top priority. His lifestyle was a model for what Paul said in Philippians 2:4 NIV, “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Isn’t Timothy’s example an example to us today? Other people’s needs, interests, cares, problems, victories, joys, etc., should be important to us. Other people should be important to us. Other people’s ‘stuff’ should be important to us. Our ‘stuff’ is important to us and we want other people to take an interest, don’t we?

Therefore, we should treat others in the same manner we’d like to be treated. That’s what the Scripture is saying when it says, ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’ So how are you accomplishing that? Do you love them this way? You want respect, do you give it? You want fellowship, do you give it? Etc.

This sermon really made me think about my own life and how I treat and interact with others.  I will admit that I am not perfect nor do I pretend to be.  I have flaws just like everyone else.  It's what makes us human.  I do always put others needs before my own and I do make many sacrifices in order to see that others are taking care of.  Its who I am and many just don't understand why I do what I do.  I don't go out of my way to help others to be recognized nor do I do it to get something back in return.  I do it because Its the right thing to do.

In 2011, I am going to continue to do what I know best and that is to give as much as I can.  However, I am also going to start taking better care of my spiritual walk and my own needs.  My Journey starts today.  Stay tuned!!!
